My DIY Umrah

🌙 Umrah With Kids (Parent Survival Guide)

🧠 Reset Expectations (This Matters)

  • Your Umrah will be interrupted — that’s okay

  • A calm child = better Umrah than a crying one

  • Teaching through experience > perfect rituals

  • Your patience counts as ibadah

👉 Make this intention early:
“Ya Allah, accept this Umrah and my effort in guiding my children.”

👶 Age-Based Tips (Quick Help)

🍼 Toddlers (0–3)

  • Carrier > stroller (crowds!)

  • Noise, lights, people = overstimulation

  • Do Tawaf during late night / early morning

  • One parent does Tawaf while the other rests (if needed)

🧒 Kids (4–8)

  • Explain Umrah as a story (Kaaba, Prophet Ibrahim, Hajar)

  • Give them a simple role: counting rounds, holding slippers

  • Keep duas short: “Ya Allah, help me be good.”

🧑 Kids (9–12)

  • Teach basic steps beforehand

  • Let them walk some Sa‘i independently (if safe)

  • Encourage their own personal dua

🟢 Children are not sinful if they make mistakes.

🧳 Packing for Kids (Non-Negotiables)

  • Snacks (familiar ones!)

  • Refillable water bottles

  • Wet wipes + sanitizer

  • Extra clothes

  • Small toy or book

  • ID bracelet (hotel name + parent phone)

🚫 Avoid sugary overload before Tawaf.

✈️ Ihram & Kids

  • Kids do not need Ihram

  • Boys can wear normal clothes

  • If they wear Ihram for learning, rules are not strict

  • Missed Talbiyah or niyyah = no issue

🕋 Inside the Haram (Safety First)

  • Hold hands at all times

  • Pick a visible meeting point

  • Don’t stop suddenly near entrances

  • Teach kids: “If lost, stand still and ask security.”

👮 Security is trained to help children.

🔄 Tawaf With Kids (Make It Work)

Best strategies:

  • Outer circles only

  • Carry small kids if possible

  • Stroller allowed (upper levels are calmer)

  • One adult counts rounds

  • If a child melts down, step aside — continue later

🟢 Carrying a child does NOT invalidate Tawaf.

🚶‍♂️ Sa‘i With Kids (Their Favorite Part)

  • More space, easier movement

  • Let them rest, snack, sit

  • Men jog green lights only if safe

  • Elevators available for strollers

✂️ Hair Cutting (Make It Fun)

  • Tell kids this is the “Umrah finish line”

  • Let them choose barber (safe, supervised)

  • Girls can trim at hotel

  • Celebrate with a small treat 🎉

🕊️ After Umrah (Recovery Time)

  • Back to hotel

  • Shower, eat, nap

  • Return to Haram later for short visits

🟢 Short visits > long exhausted ones.

❗ Common Parent Mistakes

  • Forcing kids to stay silent

  • Expecting adult-level focus

  • Skipping meals/rest

  • Feeling guilty for leaving early

Remember: Your children learning love for the Haram is the win.

🤍 Gentle Reminder

  • A child laughing in the Haram is not disrespect

  • A tired parent who stays patient is doing worship

  • This Umrah may shape their iman for life
