My DIY Umrah

Sa‘i is the act of walking seven times between Safa and Marwah, remembering the struggle and trust of Hajar (AS) as she searched for water for her son, Isma‘il (AS).

🔹 What Is Sa‘i?

  • One walk from Safa to Marwah = 1

  • 7 total walks

  • Begin at Safa

  • End at Marwah

🔹 How to Perform Sa‘i

1️⃣ Start at Safa

  • Face the Kaaba

  • Raise your hands

  • Say Allahu Akbar three times

  • Make heartfelt du‘a

2️⃣ Walk Toward Marwah

  • Walk at a normal pace

  • Men: jog lightly between the green markers

  • Women: walk normally throughout

  • Make any du‘a, dhikr, or Qur’an recitation

3️⃣ Reach Marwah

  • This completes one round

  • Face the Kaaba again

  • Make du‘a

4️⃣ Repeat Until 7 Rounds Are Completed

  • Safa → Marwah → Safa → Marwah

  • The 7th round ends at Marwah

🌙 Important Notes

  • Wudu is recommended, but not required

  • Sa‘i can be done on any level of the Mas‘a

  • Brief rests are allowed if tired

✨ Why Sa‘i Matters

Sa‘i teaches:

  • Reliance on Allah

  • Effort before miracles

  • That relief comes after patience

It’s not just walking—it’s remembering, trusting, and hoping 🤍

❌ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Starting Sa‘i at Marwah instead of Safa

  • Miscounting the rounds

  • Jogging outside the green markers

  • Thinking specific duas are required

  • Turning Sa‘i into a rushed walk or a race

  • Feeling discouraged if distracted or emotional
