Make the intention (niyyah) for Umrah.
Enter the state of Ihram at the miqat (or before crossing it).
Men wear two white unstitched cloths; women wear modest regular clothing.
Certain actions become prohibited (e.g., cutting hair, using perfume).
Enter the mosque respectfully.
Keep focus on worship and remembrance.
Walk around the Kaaba seven times, counter-clockwise.
Begin and end at the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad).
Supplications can be made throughout.
Pray two units of prayer after completing Tawaf (if possible, near Maqam Ibrahim).
This prayer is part of completing Tawaf.
Walk back and forth seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.
Begin at Safa and end at Marwah.
This commemorates Hajar’s search for water.
Men: shave the head (Halq) or trim the hair (Taqsir).
Women: trim a small portion of hair.
This marks the completion of Umrah.
After hair cutting, the state of Ihram ends.
Normal activities become permissible again.
Once these steps are finished, Umrah is complete. Many people then continue with optional prayers and worship in Makkah.
First sight of the Kaaba
Between Rukn Yamani & Hajar al-Aswad:
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah…
On Safa & Marwah
After Umrah completion (very peaceful moment)
Go during less crowded times (late night / early morning)
Stay hydrated—Zamzam is everywhere
Don’t stress over exact wording of duas—sincerity > memorization
Be patient & gentle—crowds are part of the test
